GIA Breakfast Talk 23 Oct 07 Raffles Hotel, The Ballroom was abuzz with activity in the early morning of 23 Oct 07 as GIA celebrated General Insurance Day by holding a Breakfast Talk for members & other invited guests. The talk was preceded by the screening of a recently developed GIA industry video, followed by an opening speech by the GIA President, Mr. Derek Teo. Mr. Kua Ka Hin, CEO of Munich Re Singapore was the guest speaker. Mr. Kua spoke on the topic: Reinsurance Climate and Outlook for 2008. In his presentation, he highlighted the key challenges facing the reinsurance sector and how to manage through the downturn in the underwriting cycle. After the presentation of a token of appreciation to Mr. Kua, a cake-cutting ceremony marking GI Day was performed by the GIA Management Committee. To round up the day’s events, the GIA Secretariat team accompanied by Mr. Derek Teo and Mr. Henri Gurs (GIA Management Committee member) visited the MAS office to present a cake to Mr. Low Kwok Mun (Executive Director, Insurance Supervision Department, MAS) and the insurance supervision team.
