Young Leaders Networking Session
4 May 2007, Friday

Young Leaders Networking Session is organized on 4 May 07 in General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) office for all the young leaders and talents participating in the Talent Outreach Projects Career Fair exhibition. The main objectives for the networking session are to:

  • Create opportunities and provide avenues for Young Professional Executives (YPE) to increase their involvements in General Insurance (GI) industry
  • Motivate actively YPE participation and earned benefits from GI veterans experiences and best practice sharing
  • Allow YPE to gain better understanding and insights in technical challenges faced in the future GI industry
  • Keep YPE updated and focused on the GI industry diversify roles and functionalities
  • Increase YPE professional commitments and value-adds their peers in the same GI community

During the one-hour discussion with the young leaders representatives, ideas and value-adding information were exchanged. The young leaders voiced out the current issues faced in the GI industry and shared improvements suggestions to GIA in the next upcoming YPE forum scheduled to take place in July 2007. Some suggested ideas were to:

  • Hold motivation sessions for Young Leaders to increase the level of motivation for the GI industry
  • Create more networking sessions with other member companies young leaders to exchange work experiences, values, etc
  • Build on existing talents with different sectors of industry talents for best practice sharing e.g. reinsurance companies, broking, risk management, etc
  • Involve senior management leaders in discussion groups to sharelife experiences, success stories, learnings, etc
  • Increase awareness of industry statistics with the young leaders so to keep aware of what is going on
  • Arrange team building seminars and activities to build strong rapport with all young leaders

In summary, GIA will organized more young leaders activities forthe young leaders to bridge communication within the GI industry. Going forward, it is essential to keep the young leaders aware of the current trends and issues faced in the current GI industry and to enhance their industry knowledge and updates to keep them abreast of the future.
