The Idac process - how it affects you
1. If you have an accident, there's a new simpler process to follow. Immediately after an accident (as well as getting details of any other drivers involved), you should call the Idac hotline to find the nearest Idac.
2. If your vehicle is immobilised or unsafe to drive, the hotline operator will arrange a tow-truck to collect the vehicle. Both you and your vehicle need to go to the Idac.
3. The Idac staff will help you fill in an online accident report and claim form.
4. The final step is to confirm with your insurer where the vehicle should go for repair.
If you, or others involved in a motor accident are injured, phone the police and do not attempt to move the vehicles. Have your vehicle taken to an Idac only after the police have cleared the accident scene.

When your motor vehicle insurance policy is renewed this year it will carry a new condition stating that you must take your vehicle to an Idac immediately following an accident. However, this process is open to all motorists right now. If you have an accident, don't hesitate. Call the Idac hotline.
